The fifth meeting of Academic Writing took place on Thursday, March 24 at this meeting to discuss formal and informal writing. What is formal writing, what is informal, what are the characteristics of these two types, examples of each type, etc?
First, what is academic writing? Academic writing skills involve strong structure,
excellent grammar, and a consistent stylistic approach. The characteristics contain
a formal tone, use of third-person rather than first-person perspective, clear
focus on the issue or topic rather than the author’s view, and precise word
choice. Have a stable presentation of reasons why the assumptions of other
writers may be known or may need to be treated with caution. Have a clear
presentation of your mark and argument, leading to your conclusion. Have
recognition of the limitations in your evidence, argument, and conclusion. Academic
writing writers should avoid writing with style and avoid jargon, slang, and
abbreviations. Academic writing is a more formal style of writing. Many new
writers have problems distinguishing between informal and formal writing. They
use casual writing because it is easier and more familiar to them.
Second, what is informal writing?
Informal writing is similar to a spoken conversation. It may consequently
include slang, figures of speech, broken syntax, or asides. Informal writing
it’s easier and more familiar. The characteristic of informal writing includes the
use of colloquialisms and jargon, writing in the first person of making “I”
statements, making direct personal statements, and imprecise word choices.
Informal writing is finding for diary entries, blogs, personal writing, letters,
or email to friends. If the text message is filled with abbreviations like
"R U here?" to specify short questions and replies, it is the furthermost
informal writing possible. Legal documents, on the other hand, include the most
formal writing of all. Then, plagiarism is defined as the copying of passages,
texts, works, or ideas without the author's permission. This incorporates the
work of other classmates.
The above is the discussion of the
material discussed at the fifth meeting. Hopefully, in the future, I will
better understand very well what is the difference between formal writing and
informal writing.
